BANGKOK, Jan 30 (TNA) – Bangkok governor has ordered all 437
schools under its administration to close until Friday due to the rising fine
dust pollution.
Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang decided to close schools from noon
today over concerns of students’ safety after the tiny particulate matter
continues to rise in the city’s all areas.
The decision was made after a meeting between the Bangkok
Metropolitan Administration and the Meteorological Department.
the Meteorological Department forecast the high
concentration of the ultra-fine particulate matter would prolong until Feb 3-4.
The initial measure to shut down the schools will also
reduce travel needs of parents.
The governor also ordered a warning to be issued for people going
exercise in public parks to refrain from outdoor activities. (TNA)
