BANGKOK, Jan 29(TNA) – The dust pollution in Bangkok and
nearby provinces has worsened as the level of the particulate matter on Rama II
Road in Samut Sakhon province, on the outskirts of Bangkok, reached 113
microgrammes per cubic metre on Tuesday morning.
The Department of Pollution Control reported that the wind
weakened with no rain. The weather conditions caused high concentration of the
fine dust, worsening the ongoing air pollution in the capital and surrounding
provinces.
In Bangkok, thirty-six air quality monitoring stations
showed the particulate matter level surpassed the safety standard in several
areas in many districts including Bang Khunthian, Bangna, Bang Kapi, Dindaeng,
Pathumwan and Wang Thong Lang.
The dust pollution in Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum
Thani, and Samut Prakan also exeeded the safety level.
The Department said the wind has eased off and it could
further cause accumulation of air pollutants later in the day.(TNA)
