BANGKOK, Jan 22 (TNA) — Dangerous dust particles were measured in 40 areas of greater Bangkok including very hazardous levels in six zones due to stagnant air, lack of rain and traffic congestion.
The Pollution Control Department reported that the unhealthy weather problem was likely to be worse.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration measured particulate matter pollution with diameter of 2.5 microns or less (PM2.5) in 24 hours at 53-102 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Levels exceeding 100 micrograms were at Thanon Tok intersection in Bang Kholaem district and Siam University in Phasicharoen district.
Dust particles measuring more than 90 micrograms were on Kanchanaphisek Road in Bang Khunthian district, Mahai Sawan intersection in Thon Buri district, Bang Phlad district and Bangkok Noi railway police station in Bangkok Noi district.
The Pollution Control Department advised people minimize outdoor activities in areas of the heavy air pollution and see doctors when falling ill. The Meteorological Department expected wind to relieve the air pollution tomorrow. (TNA)
