HARBIN (CHINA), Jan 7 (TNA) – Reigning champions
Thailand’s ice sculpture team is upbeat of the chance to retain the title at
the International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Contest 2019 in Harbin, China.
As part of Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture
Festival, Thai students from Ubon Ratchathani Vocational College have won top
prizes in the past two years. They have
completed their sculpture titled “Timeless Friendship” depicting the
international mission to rescue 13 Wild Boars young footballers and their coach
from flooded Tham Luang Cave.
Team coordinators said the students managed to complete
their masterpiece within deadline at 8 pm on Monday, enduring sub-zero
condition and racing against time.
The sculpture’s main component is Thai gesture of respect
“wai” with flower garland alongside wild boars and symbols of countries
participating in the rescue operation.
Leading Ubon Ratchathani Vocational College team Teacher
Surachart Palasak said he was confident in the flawless sculpture created as
planned.
The results of the contest would be announced at 5 pm on
Tuesday and we expect we could win the prize for the third straight time, he
said.
Last year, the team won the top award and the best
sculptural technique award for its sculpture “Horse-Bird-Fish-Water” inspired
by Hindu and Buddhist mythology. (TNA)
