BANGKOK, Dec 27 (TNA) – The Interior Minister Gen. Anupong Paochinda on Thursday opened the road safety center, aiming to reduce the number of road accidents during the New Year holiday from Dec 27 to Jan 2.
The establishment of the center, which will operate for seven days is part of the comprehensive measures to reduce risks of road accidents when people return home in the provinces to celebrate the New Year festival with their families.
Under the road safety measures, the traffic law will be fully enforced and road service areas will be set up along highways to facilitate motorists. All vehicles’ safety standard will be strictly controlled.
Moreover, emergency medical services have been prepared to save the injured once accidents occur. The road safety measures will be focused in 144 districts, where the statistics showed the high rates of road accidents.
