BANGKOK, Dec 25 (TNA) – About 70,000 policemen have been mobilized nationwide to guarantee public safety from the Christmas Eve until the New Year day.
Deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Sriworakhan and Bangkok police chief Sutthipong Wongpin launched part of the policemen at the King Rama VI monument. About 200 volunteers and representatives of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the 1st Army were present at the ceremony.
Pol Gen Chalermkiat told the policemen to increase patrols in areas under their jurisdiction and cooperate closely with the military and the BMA.
Then he inspected a surveillance camera center at the Central World shopping complex. The center monitors footage from 570 surveillance cameras that cover all corners of commercial areas around Ratchaprasong intersection to ensure security during the New Year festival. (TNA)
