CHON BURI, DEC 21 (TNA) – Mae Mali, Thailand’s oldest
hippopotamus, is relocated to her new home in Chon Buri province after the
Dusit Zoo in Bangkok was closed at the end of September.
The female hippo who just turned 52 had been a favorite at
Dusit Zoo for many years. Now she has
been resettled at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chon Buri province.
Zoo officials said Mae Mali appeared to have readjusted to
the new enclosure very well, relaxing in water and feed on grass.
The age of the longest-living hippo in Thailand is
equivalent 80 years for a human. She
has exceeded hippo’s lifespan of 40-50 years.
Khao Kheow zookeepers said they were confident that Mae Mali
would be happy in her new home inside the zoo with other 8,000 animals. (TNA)
