NONG KHAI, DEC 13 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha downplays critics attacking him of trying to win popularity by
holding Cabinet meeting upcountry.
Prayut and his ministers have travelled for a Cabinet
retreat or mobile Cabinet meeting in northeastern Nong Khai province to discuss
matters involving the adjacent provinces – Loei, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu and
Udon Thani.
During the trip on Wednesday, the leader of the military
junta said, for the first time, he had become a “fully fledged
politician.” He also asked eligible
voters to carefully elect candidates with good policy platforms.
But on Thursday he insisted the recent tour was not for
political campaign; it is his government’s duty to push forward development
projects, inform the public of the performance and listen to people’s
grievances.
The Prime Minister told local officials to expedite all
development projects as well as facilitate public learning on technologies used
for government’s program to promote digital economy.
He has been accompanied by senior Cabinet members, including
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Premier and Justice Minister
Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister Chatchai Sarikulya and Interior Minister
General Anupong Paojinda.(TNA)
