BANGKOK, Dec 7 (TNA) – Thai embassy in Paris issued a warning for Thai tourists to stay away from turbulent areas amid a planned demonstration in Paris tomorrow.
Gilets jaunes (“yellow vest”) protests has continued since Nov 17 and was intensified. The protesters plan a fresh demonstration on Dec 8 although President Emmanuel Macron scrapped a fuel tax hike that unleashed weeks of unrest.
The Thai embassy issued a travel advisory for Thai tourists not to visit Paris this Saturday.
Thais, residing in France should not avoid travelling to the city’s center, the Champs-Élysées and other locations where the protesters will be gathering.
They should check whether train stations, shopping malls, tourist sites are opened or not this Saturday. They should also follow the advice of French authorities strictly, the embassy said.
French authorities Thursday announced that the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, tourist spots and shops will be closed this weekend due to potential riots during anti-government protests in Paris. (TNA)
