BANGKOK, Nov 20 (TNA) — Airports of Thailand PCL says 158 flights are either cancelled or rescheduled for safety during the Loy Krathong festival on Nov 21-23.
AOT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said the changes affected 148 flights at Chiang Mai airport. Of them, 60 flights are cancelled and 88 flights are rescheduled.
At Chiang Rai airport, four flights are cancelled and four other flights are rescheduled. Two other flights are called off at Hat Yai airport.
Mr Nitinai also asked people to refrain from releasing floating lanterns, balloons and any hazardous objects and lighting fireworks and firecrackers and beaming light skywards near Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
For the sake of traditional floating lanterns, they are permitted at Chiang Mai airport during 7pm and 1am and at Chiang Rai airport from 9pm to 1am on Nov 22 and 23.
Traditional hot-air balloons are allowed during 10am and noon on Nov 22, Mr Nitinai said. (TNA)
