SINGAPORE, Nov 16 – (TNA) Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met the Chinese prime minister and confirmed he prioritized tourists’ safety.
Meanwhile, China assured that Thailand remained as a main destination of Chinese tourists.
Prime Minister Prayut met Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre during his trip to attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit set in Singapore on Nov 13-15.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said both sides had confidence in economic partnership between Thailand and China and were ready to boost the value of bilateral trade to 140 billion US dollars within 2021.
“The prime minister confirms that the Thai government prioritises the safety of tourists. The Chinese prime minister is willing to promote bilateral tourism and said that Thailand is still a main destination of Chinese tourists,” Lt Gen Werachon said.
Besides, the Chinese prime minister expressed readiness to push for cooperation with Thailand next year when Thailand is the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations so that agreements would be sealed including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the deputy government spokesman said.
