RAYONG, Nov 13 (TNA) – Thirteen raft resorts in Rayong, encroaching upon the sea face demolition orders and legal action will be taken against the owners.
The resorts were illegally built behind offshore wave breakers, one kilometer from the coast off Baan Pae. They were found to release wastewater into the sea, causing ecological damage.
They offer accommodation and meals for tourists at 1,500-1,800 baht per head. Only one resort remains opened while another 12 resorts have been closed.
The 13 resorts were ordered to demolish within 30 days for violating the Act on the Promotion of Marine and Coastal Resources Management, B.E. 2558.
Legal action will be taken against the resort owners for sea encroachment and environmental damage. After the deadline, officials will dismantle these illegal resorts.
Officials are also checking with the fisheries office whether they sought permission for raising fish in the baskets at the rafts there. (TNA)
