Representatives of 133 organizations gathered at the Ministry of Energy to protest against a power tariff increase and demand solutions to high electricity fees.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha shelved a plan to raise the electricity fee for the September-December period to protect people, government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) plans to raise the electricity fee to the all-time high rate of about five baht per unit from September to December because of the expensive price of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG).
