The government will transfer the first batch of handouts to about 30,000 workers in the entertainment sector tonight to relieve their COVID-19 hardship, according to the government spokesman.
The cabinet approved another round of 1,500-baht handouts under the third phase of the government’s co-payment program which still opens to more applicants.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the cabinet resolved to give 2,000-baht subsidies through “We Win” and “We Love Each Other” schemes.
Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said the new cash handout program known as “Rao Chana” (We Win) will cover 30-35 million Thai people affected by COVID-19.
Registration for the government’s new campaign to provide a half-price subsidy to consumers for their purchases at eligible stores started on Thursday for small entrepreneurs and vendors.
The government’s Center for Economic Situation Administration approved the economic stimulus packages worth 68 billion baht to cut the cost of living and to hire about 260,000 new graduates.
