BANGKOK, Jan 7 — Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak visited Thailand private trip during the New Year holidays to thank Thailand for providing relief aid and assistance to flood victims in his country, according to Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Gen Prayut said Tuesday that he met his Malaysian counterpart during the New Year holidays, but did not discuss any particular issue with Mr Najib.
The Thai premier said Mr Najib came to thank Thailand for providing 500 tonnes of rice and dispatching officials to assist the Malaysian people during his country’s severe flooding late last year, adding that the assistance reflects the good ties between the two countries.
Regarding progress of peace dialogue between the Thai security authorities and local insurgent movements which Malaysia is a facilitator, Gen Prayut said Malaysia is speeding up contacting insurgent groups to join the talks with the Thai authorities.
Gen Prayut said the Thai side is ready to enter the dialogue anytime. (MCOT online news)
