BANGKOK, Jan 14 — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired the first meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Committee at Government House today.
The session discussed solutions to tackle corruption and they include the requirement that government projects be examined by outsiders.
Also present in the meeting were Deputy Prime Minsiter Wissanu Krea-ngam, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, Deputy Defence Minister Udomdej Sitabutr, Somkid Jatusripitak, an adviser to the National Council for Peace and Order, Pramon Sutivong, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand (ACT) and Banyong Pongpanich, from the ACT alliance.
The prime minister told the meeting that corruption was a reason why he took over national administration and the public is welcome to participate in anti-corruption movements.
Mr Banyong briefed the anti-corruption committee on the present situation of corruption in the country.
Then the panel discussed anti-corruption tools and planned the requirement for government projects to be transparent and subject to examination by observers from the private sector.(MCOT online news)
