BANGKOK, Feb 5 — Thai police are certain that there are more suspects involved in the bombing at the Siam Paragon shopping complex and have started another round of investigations for more evidence that would lead to the culprits behind the incident.
The South Bangkok Criminal Court on Wednesday approved arrest warrants for two suspects caught on a surveillance camera's footage, allegedly for planting two explosive devices at Siam Paragon shopping mall in the heart of Bangkok on February 1.
Their charges include attempted murder, causing explosions that could harm the lives of people and properties, as well as carrying weapons into a community or public location without cause.
Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri was to visit the bombing scene again today to inspect the walkway connecting Siam BTS train station and Siam Paragon mall for further evidence, as police believe that the bombing was carefully planned in detail, which meant that the two bombers were not working alone.
As for the cause of the bombings, police remained firm in their speculation that the illegal act was carried out with a political motivation, as it is quite similar to the explosions at Samarn Metta Mansion and Min Buri last year. (MCOT online news)
