BANGKOK, March 18 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) inoculated 705 people against COVID-19 in Bang Khae district when the vaccination started yesterday (March 17).
Chawin Sirinak, deputy permanent secretary for BMA, said the inoculation organized at the Siri Setthanon market responded to a new cluster of COVID-19 cases detected at wet markets in Bang Khae.
When the vaccination started on March 17, 744 people registered for the jabs. Of them, 705 (447 migrants and 258 Thais) had the injections while 39 others were not fit for the inoculation because of their undesirable physical conditions including hypertension, he said.
Thirteen vaccine recipients developed negative symptoms such as dizziness but all of them recovered after resting for 30 minutes.
The inoculation in Bang Khae was set for March 17-21 to cover about 6,000 at-risk Thai people and migrants related to the Bang Khae cluster. The people would receive their second jabs on April 7-11, Mr Chawin said.
Thailand on Thursday reported 92 new COvid-19 cases, bringing the total cases to 27,494 and one more death. The death toll rose to 89. (TNA)
