TAK, Oct 17 (TNA) – Disease control officials from Mae Sot Hospital are hurriedly testing people close to the Myanmar couple who were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019.
The officials on five royally sponsored COVID-19 testing vehicles reached Islam Mae Sot and Ban Thung Thong Mae Sot communities in Mae Sot district to test local people for COVID-19. The movement followed proactive tests on 2,995 people there on Oct 12-13 which found the infection with the elderly Myanmar couple.
Both patients were admitted to Mae Sot Hospital right away and officials were examining people in close contact with them, initially comprising five family members and four migrants who had visited the same mosque. Official results of the COVID-19 tests have not been concluded.
The infected couple had lived in their community for years and officials believed they contracted the disease from their family members who are border vendors. (TNA)
