BANGKOK, Dec 27 (TNA, BERNAMA) – Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has confirmed his meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim aboard a yacht. The meeting took place in Thai territorial waters near Lipe Island in Satun province, with the vessel departing from Phuket.
When asked about the meeting, Thaksin briefly acknowledged it, stating only that “the discussion went well.”
According to Bernama, Malaysian National News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that discussions covered several significant regional issues including peace initiatives in Southern Thailand and the ongoing crisis in Myanmar.
The Malaysian leader said the talks with Thaksin, whom he referred to as a “dear friend,” also touched on Thaksin’s role as an unofficial advisor to the ASEAN chair. – 819 (TNA, BERNAMA)
