BANGKOK, Aug 8 (TNA) – The National Health Security Office started to deliver COVID-19 medications to vulnerable groups of patients via its telemedicine system today.
Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said that NHSO started to send antiviral molnupiravir to the COVID-19 cases who were elderly people, those with underlying illnesses and pregnant women today. It handled the cases through the Clicknic app and its telemedicine system and they would receive the medication in time to protect them from developing severe symptoms.
Doctors took turns to give advice to the COVID-19 cases through the process and would decide if they should receive antivirals. Recipients would obtain the medication in one day after consulting with doctors via the telemedicine system, Mr Thanakorn said.
The country logged 1,842 new COVID-19 patients who were among 21,319 patients receiving treatment nationwide. Among all the patients, 953 suffered lung inflammation. There were 34 new fatalities related to the disease. (TNA)
