BANGKOK, Aug 4 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha left for Kanchanaburi province to inspect water shortage solutions and landscape development along Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers where there are new landmarks for Kanchanaburi people.
Gen Prayut and his delegation including Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda, Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn and Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa boarded army helicopters at the 2nd Cavalry Division and headed for Kanchanaburi.
In the province, the delegation first followed up a royally initiated large-scale groundwater project to solve the shortage of water for consumption and agriculture in Ban Thung Khun village of Huay Krachao sub-district in Huay Krachao district.
In the afternoon, they inspected the landscape improvement of Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers for tourism promotion. The task is a part of a project to develop the landscapes of the rivers and the old urban area of Kanchanaburi. It includes solutions to illegal river encroachment by tourism-related rafts, the reduction of noise pollution, the construction of piers to serve tourist rafts and assistance for the raft operators.
Under the project, a “Sky Walk” was built as a new landmark on the bank of the Khwae Yai River and there is also a walking street along the riverbank to revive tourism and develop the grassroots economy in Kanchanaburi in the post-COVID-19 era. (TNA)
