BANGKOK, June 15 (TNA) – Eight members of Thailand’s woman volleyball team tested positive for COVID-19 and the Thailand Volleyball Association sought permission from FIVB to send five substitutes.
Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the association, told a press conference that the Thailand team was competing in the second week of the Nations League tournament in the Philippines.
Four players of the team tested positive with the RT-PCR method before their match with Canada which Thailand defeated 3-0 yesterday. They are Piyanut Pannoy, Supattra Pairoj, Watchareeya Nuanjam and Sutadta Chuewulim. They were isolated for treatment.
After yesterday’s match, four more players also tested positive, namely Sasipaporn Janthawisut, Hattaya Bamrungsuk, Natthanicha Jaisaeng and Tichakorn Boonlert.
There were eight healthy players left in the team and the association sought permission from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to send five substitutes namely Wipawee Srithong, Jarasporn Bundasak, Kannika Thipachot, Khatthalee Pinsuwan and Tichaya Boonlert.
