CHIANG MAI, Jan 4 (TNA) – About 1,000 officials who worked at the provincial hall underwent antigen tests in a bid to contain COVID-19 while the communicable disease committee of the northern province postponed onsite learning at local schools.
The antigen tests were aimed at public safety after people had their vacation during the New Year holiday. The tests were compulsory for all officials working at the Chiang Mai provincial hall.
Chiang Mai deputy governor Worawit Chaisawat said the tests today were for the first round and the second one was scheduled for Jan 10.
Local government organizations and companies were encouraged to have their staff work from home and conduct COVID-19 tests with antigen test kits before resuming their operations. The provincial hall ordered local government organizations to postpone the gatherings of many people such as parties and seminars, Mr Worawit said.
Meanwhile, the communicable disease committee of Chiang Mai postponed the reopening of all local schools including nurseries for onsite services until Jan 9. (TNA)
