YALA, Dec 15 (TNA) – Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is visiting Yala and Pattani provinces to follow up on the implementation progress of the Government’s policies on socio-economic and security development there, according to Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana.
Prime Minister and delegation attended a meeting at Yala Provincial Government Center Building.
Focus was made on uplifting people’s quality of life, socio-economic development under the “Triangle of Stability, Prosperity and Sustainability” model project, border security management and COVID-19 situation administration.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit black crab (scylla serrata) farming community in Pattani’s Yaring district.
Black crabs will be promoted as new alternative economic animal, and the district will be developed as the world’s black crab city under the grassroots economic development framework, to be implemented by the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), with the collaboration of Prince of Songkla University (Pattani Campus), the Fishery Department, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, and local farmer community enterprises.
This is in accordance with the Prime Minister’s policy to promote employment and job diversity to increase revenues of the Southern border farmers, and revive natural resources and environment in a tangible manner. (TNA)
