NAKHON PATHOM, Nov 29 (TNA) – An engine oil warehouse was on fire in Samphran district. Firefighters were trying to control the blaze pending supply of extinguishing agents. Damage was initially estimated at 30 million baht.
The fire started at the warehouse of Prapakorn Oil Co from noon and remained unlikely to be under control over the past hours. About 200 firefighters and 50 fire engines of Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom were deployed.
The warehouse was filled with more than 600,000 liters of lubricant in various sizes of containers. Firefighters could not use water to control the flames. They sought chemical agents from PTT and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. The fire remained uncontrollable in strong winds.
Nakhon Pathom governor Surasak Charoensirichote said at the scene that there were workers in the warehouse and the burning lubricant was the remainder from a previous fire in April.
If proper extinguishing agents were supplied, firefighters should be able to control the blaze within 5pm, he said. (TNA)
