BANGKOK, Aug 27 (TNA) – The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) will sign a contract to buy 8.5 million antigen test kits with approved standard on Aug 30.
GPO director-general Dr Witoon Danwiboon said GPO would procure the self-test ATKs for the National Health Security Office and Rajavithi Hospital and the products met the standard that NHSO set for self-test ATKs for home use, not for products meant for professional use. Besides, NHSO required the products receive certification by the Food and Drug Administration only and they did not have to be certified by the World Health Organization, he said.
Sirinya Thepcharoen, director of World Medical Alliance Co which is the dealer of ATKs under the Lepu brand that GPO ordered, said Thai people would have access to cheaper ATKs and the products of the Lepu brand were popular in European countries including Germany and Austria. (TNA)
