BANGKOK, Aug 19 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration reported 20,902 new COVID-19 cases and 301 more deaths over the past 24 hours.
The new fatalities included three pregnant women and a nurse in Bangkok who had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine made by Sinovac. The capital recorded the most new daily fatalities at 79.
The 20,902 new cases included 20,730 local infections among general people, 148 cases among inmates and 24 cases who arrived from other countries
Over the past 24 hours, 22,208 cases recovered and were discharged and 205,946 patients remained at hospitals. Among the hospitalized patients, 5,439 were severely ill and 1,168 used ventilators.
Bangkok had the most new cases at 4,392 while Samut Sakhon province logged 1,739 new cases and Chon Buri had 1,322 new ones.
Thailand ranked 34th globally by its accumulated COVID-19 cases among 210.10 million cases recorded worldwide since the pandemic started. The United States came first, followed by India and Brazil. (TNA)
