BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) – There was a new record high of 23,418 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours while the country logged 184 new fatalities from the disease over the same period.
Reporting the figures, the Public Health Ministry elaborated that the new cases comprised 23,030 cases among general people and 388 cases among prison inmates. The total cases in the country rose to 863,189.
The 184 new fatalities raised the COVID-19 death toll to 7,126.
Over the past 24 hours, 20,083 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Meanwhile, 212,179 COVID patients remained at hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Chiang Mai provincial health office urged customers who visited a five-star hotel in Night Bazaar area from Aug 2 to 11 to have COVID-19 tests and quarantine themselves as COVID-19 infections were confirmed with 13 employees of reception, cleaning, catering and security departments at the hotel. The place was disinfected and the departments were closed.
Besides, the northern province also had 18 new cases linked with an infected driver of a concrete mixer truck. The total cases in the cluster went up to 27. In relation to the cluster, Wang Lung Mai housing estate behind Hod Hospital will be closed until Aug 24. (TNA)
