BANGKOK, Aug 2 (TNA) – Ten demonstrators were arrested after a clash between protesters and police yesterday, according to the Royal Thai Police Office.
After anti-government rally leaders concluded their “car mob” protest yesterday (Aug 1) some protesters clashed with police at Din Daeng junction at about 7pm and police used rubber bullets and tear gas.
Violence started earlier at the nearby 1st Infantry Regiment on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Police used a water cannon at about 5.50pm and could control protesters there in about 15 minutes.
Pol Maj Gen Yingyot Thepchamnong, spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office, said protesters used slingshots and threw objects and firecrackers at riot police in front of the regiment and four riot policemen were injured.
Police gathered evidence to take legal action against wrongdoers. Initially police arrested three wrongdoers in Bangkok and seven in Nonthaburi, he said. (TNA)
