BANGKOK, May 20 (TNA) – Thailand is ready to take part in joint efforts to revive the economy in the post-COVID era and push for regional and global economic cooperation in serious, comprehensive, flexible and sustainable manners, the prime minister told the Nikkei Forum.
During the International Conference on the Future of Asia (Nikkei Forum) organized by Nikkei, Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered his speech on “Shaping the post-COVID era: Asia’s Role in the Global Recovery” via a teleconference system from Government House.
He emphasized the importance of rehabilitating connectivity in all dimensions, especially those concerning transport and tourism. He proposed COVID-19 vaccines be generic products and called for adequate vaccinations. He said that his government planned to promote safe trips to Thailand and he hoped Japanese tourists would welcome the plan.
“Japan has played important roles in the Thai economy for a long time. Thailand is ready to respond to recommendations from Japanese companies in Thailand concerning the continuity of economic and investment policies, the development of infrastructures and skills and the improvement of regulations, especially customs ones,” Gen Prayut said.
