BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the Labour Ministry to help Thai workers who fall victim to violent attacks between Israel and Palestine.
Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin said the prime minister assigned his ministry to coordinate assistance with relevant organizations to help Thai workers in Israel. The instruction followed the report that two Thai workers were killed and eight others were injured in the violence.
The help coordination would also include requests for compensation from the social security authority of Israel for the two fatalities and the eight injured workers. Besides, there would be aid from a fund for overseas Thai workers.
The fund will pay up to 30,000 baht per injured worker and 80,000 baht per fatality.
Mr Suchart said he banned the export to Thai workers to risk areas and ordered the Thai labour attaché in Tel Aviv to closely monitor the conditions of Thai workers there. (TNA)
