BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha canceled a plan on walk-in COVID-19 vaccination and based inoculation arrangement on the Mor Prom system to prevent confusion.
Gen Prayut scrapped a walk-in vaccination plan. Otherwise, people would crowd a single location and result in commotion.
The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration has yet to conclude its vaccination plan and will be the only source of information on the matter to prevent confusion and inconsistency.
The prime minister said that COVID-19 vaccination was one of the national agenda and the government planned to distribute vaccines through 3 channels.
Firstly people can register for inoculation via the “Mor Prom” system. Secondly they can apply on-site registration if there are enough doses. Thirdly vaccines are directed to particular groups of people such as the groups of vulnerable people, the people who urgently need inoculation and the groups that are vital to the national economy and people’s life.
The prime minister stressed that the government was trying to give the first jab to as many people and as fast as possible. It welcomed everyone who was ready for vaccination, especially people at working ages, he said.
Thailand on Wednesday reported 29 new COVID-19 deaths and 3,394 new cases over the past 24 hours. The new cases included 1,498 cases in prisons. (TNA)
