BANGKOK, April 7 (TNA) – The cabinet meeting was organized through a video conference today as many ministers started their 14-day quarantine for COVID-19 concerns.
Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired the meeting at Government House when many ministers were absent as their close aides were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. They included Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, Education Minister Treenuch Thienthong and Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on.
All promotional events earlier set at Government House before the cabinet meeting were called off. Press conferences after the meeting will be broadcast live through Government House’s Facebook page and reporters will not be allowed to attend them.
At 2pm today the prime minister will open the Pak Chong-Si Khiu section of the Bang Pa-in-Saraburi-Nakhon Ratchasima motorway so that it will facilitate traffic during the Songkran festival. The opening ceremony will be organized at the motorway intersection with Mitrapharp Highway in Ban Nong Phai village of Nong Sarai sub-district in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Treenuch said she tested negative for COVID-19 and already ordered her subordinates to coordinate work and had meeting online. (TNA)
