BANGKOK, March 2 (TNA) – ASEAN foreign ministers asked all parties in Myanmar to make one backward step for the sake of people.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said that the request happened during an informal video conference of all Southeast Asian foreign ministers who discussed COVID-19 situations and the situation in Myanmar.
Participants discussed many aspects of the issues that had regional significance and impacts on Myanmar and other countries in the region, he said.
“We must admit that there are so many situations in Myanmar that member states must discuss because we do not want them to escalate further. We would like all concerned parties in Myanmar to take a backward step. Otherwise, it would be difficult to find a way out,” Mr Don said.
“A backward step is for the national and public interest of Myanmar and also for the benefits of ASEAN. Consideration must be done through many perspectives. One perspective is not enough,” said the deputy prime minister and foreign minister. (TNA)
