BANGKOK, Dec 15 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha praised public health authorities of Nakhon Ratchasima province for their decision to stop the Big Mountain Music Festival in the northeastern province while denying the decision was politically motivated.
The prime minister said that the order to end the concert festival near the Khao Yai National Park was under the authority of Nakhon Ratchasima’s disease control committee headed by the provincial governor.
The government had eased disease control measures to allow concert organization but organizers would have to comply with regulations intended to prevent COVID-19 transmission, Gen Prayut said.
“I must praise health authorities in Nakhon Ratchasima for making the decision for the safety of everyone,” he said.
The prime minister warned that organizers of New Year festivals would have to comply with regulations to control COVID-19 and violators would be prosecuted. The executive decree on public administration in emergency situations was being imposed to control COVID-19, he said.
If the disease severely spread, the country could be shut down again, Gen Prayut said. (TNA)
