CHIANG RAI, Dec 4 (TNA) – The first batch of 16 Thai nationals, who wanted to return home from Tachileik arrived in Chiang Rai, underwent Covid-19 screen and entered quarantine at a hotel in the provincial seat.
Six men and nine women crossed the border at an official immigration checkpoint Friday afternoon. They were willing to return home through cooperation between the Thai-Myanmar Border Township Committee (TBC).
This group had legally entered Myanmar and did not work at the entertainment venue, the 1G1 Hotel in Tachileik, where ten previously – confirmed Covid-19 cases of Thai returnees worked.
They are considered at low risk of contracting coronavirus but they also complied with the disease control measures to be quarantined.
More than 50 undocumented people, illegally entering Myanmar and working at the 1G1 Hotel reportedly made requests to return to Thailand. (TNA)
