BANGKOK, Aug 29 (TNA) – The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and the Pollution Control Department are researching on preventing and mitigating fine dust.
Both organizations and their partners signed an agreement to jointly research on the prevention and solution of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5).
NRCT deputy executive director Wiparat De-ong said PM2.5 pollution heavily affected public health, the environment and the economy of the country from December to February.
Pollution Control Department director-general Pralong Dumrongthai said that under the cooperation, both organizations would consider national strategies and academic knowledge and work out measures to prevent and solve PM2.5 pollution.
The cooperation involves five governmental organizations and educational institutions that will integrate their four programs and eight projects concerning PM2.5 in greater Bangkok.
Participants in the cooperation project will study solutions at the sources of PM2.5 in the transport sector in greater Bangkok and the study should be concluded in six months. (TNA)
