LOEI, August 20 (TNA) – Villages in northeastern Thailand have been affected by tropical storm Hegos as weather officials have warned of more flashfloods and landslides.
Nearly 100 villages in Loei provinces were hit by torrential rains and flooding as Hegos made its way across southern China Thursday morning.
The storm is expected to weaken as the low-pressure cell in southern China.
Army troops and rescuers have been mobilized to provide help and assist people to evacuate from severely affected areas.
In other provinces, heavy rains have caused overflowing of waterways including Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom province.
Meanwhile in Nong Khai, officials held an inspection at crocodile farms out of fear over possible flooding and displacement of the reptiles. They found the farms with over 170 crocodiles have met safety standard and precaution in case of flood.(TNA)
