BANGKOK, Dec 5 (TNA) — Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, cabinet ministers, presidents of Upper and Lower houses, early Thursday offered alms to 489 senior monks at Bangkok’s Sanam Luang ceremonial ground on the occasions of the birthday of Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and also the National Father’s Day.
Gen Prayuth, also defence minister, was the chairman alms-giving ceremony, presentation of flower offerings and homage paying in front of the royal portrait of His Majesty King Rama IX, and various volunteering activities.
The merit making ceremonies would also be held nationwide to mark the birthday of the late King Bhumibol.
The Prime Minister instructed governors of all provinces to ensure orderly and fitting organization of the event to commemorate the auspicious occasion, and encouraged everyone to wear yellow and take part in wide-ranging activities organized to express reverence and glorify His Majesty’s royal honor.
Gen Prayut has earlier encouraged Thai people of all sectors, both living in the country and overseas, to take part in the activities on occasion of the National Father’s Day on December 5. (TNA)
