BANGKOK, Dec 2 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) hands out 1 million free seedlings as its New Year gifts, hoping to expand green urban areas.
Bangkok governor Pol Gen Aswin Khwanmuang announced the project with executives of the Royal Forest Department, Central Pattana Plc and True Corporation at CentralWorld shopping center.
The governor said that the distribution would help reduce air pollution and improve the landscape beauty of the capital because the BMA was handing out the seedlings of yellow flowering plants that matched the birthday colour of His Majesty the King.
The BMA prepared seedlings of yellow star, Malay padauk, yellow trumpetbush, silver trumpet, golden senna and yellow flame for the purpose.
People could receive the seedlings at 50 district offices, the BMA’s public parks and Central department stores from Dec 2 to 5, Pol Gen Aswin said. (TNA)
