BANGKOK, Nov 12 (TNA) – Two traditional Thai restaurants – “Sorn” and “R-Haan” have been upgraded to two-star rating worth a detour to try it, as the third edition of the Michelin Guide Thailand announced its winners today.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide and Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yutthasak Supasorn jointly presided over the announcement.
The two restaurants in Bangkok were upgraded from one star status to join three other restaurants, Normandie, Mezzaluna and Sühring, which can retain their status on the two-star list.
“R-Haan” uses locally-sourced ingredients of high quality to make authentic local food and palace cuisine while “Sorn” offers authentic Southern food in the form of fine dining, meticulously prepared and cooked. Ingredients are produce from local farmers and fishermen.
Jay Fai, Bangkok street food vendor with famous crab omelet and Methavalai Sorndaeng remain on the one-star list among 24 other restaurants,
The list of one-star restaurants, which is very good for stop if you are driving past include Bo.lan, Canvas, Chim by Siam Wisdom, Element, Gaa, Ginza Sushi Ichi, J’aime by Jean-Michel Lorain, Le Du, Nahm, Paste, Ruean Panya, Saawaan, Saneh Chan, Savelberg, Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin, Suan Thip, Upstairs and Pru (from Phuket).
Four restaurants, earning the one-star status for the first time are Chef’s Table, 80/20, Khao and Table 38. (TNA)
