BANGKOK, July 1 (TNA) – Thailand’s new “Paetongtarn 1/2” Cabinet has received royal endorsement, with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra taking on an additional role as Minister of Culture. The new government is set to be sworn in on July 3.
The reshuffle, officially published in the Royal Gazette, saw several changes to ministerial portfolios. Phumtham Wechayachai, previously Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, will now serve as Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister.
Among other key appointments:
- Suchart Tancharoen becomes Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office.
- Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol is appointed Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
- Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn takes over as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
- Jatuporn Buruspat is named Minister of Commerce, with Chantawit Tantasith as Deputy Minister of Commerce.
- Dej-is Khaothong becomes Deputy Minister of Interior.
- Pongkwan Juangroongruangkit is the new Minister of Labour.
- Narumon Pinyosinwat becomes Minister of Education, with Linthiporn Varinwatchararoj and Thewan Liptapanlop as Deputy Ministers of Education.
- Anucha Sasomsub and Chaichana Dechdecho are appointed Deputy Ministers of Public Health.
The appointments are effective immediately, as per the announcement dated June 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, the position of Defense Minister remains unfilled for now. Deputy Defense Minister General Natthapol Nakpanich will serve as acting minister in the interim.-819 (TNA)
