BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) – The Senate Committee on Military Affairs and State Security, alongside a group of senators, today called for Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to immediately resign and cease duties, citing severe damage to the country and loss of public trust. They suggest her actions may constitute multiple legal offenses.
The senators announced plans to petition the Constitutional Court and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) this afternoon to remove Paetongtarn from her position. They allege she lacks the qualifications and possesses prohibited characteristics under Article 160 of the Constitution, is not honest, and has committed a serious breach of ethical standards.
Separately, at the Central Investigation Bureau, former Senator Somchai Sawangkarn and others lodged a criminal complaint against the Prime Minister. The complaint, citing Articles 119, 120, 122, 128, and 129, concerns the leaked audio clip of her negotiation with Hun Sen, which they claim affects national security and risks the loss of sovereignty.
Furthermore, a public meeting is scheduled for tomorrow to demand the Prime Minister’s resignation. -819 (TNA)
