TAK, March 3 (TNA) – A man dressed as a delivery rider robbed a gold shop at gunpoint in a mall in Mae Sot district, Tak province, on Sunday evening, making off with 102 baht weight (about 1,530 grams) in gold jewelry in just one minute, police said.
CCTV footage showed the suspect, wearing a full-face black helmet and a rider’s jacket, entering the gold shop within a shopping mall in Mae Sot municipality and brandishing a handgun. He grabbed three trays of gold ornaments weighing 102 baht of gold in total, before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Police investigating the incident said the suspect was a slim man, about 165 cm tall, wearing a rider’s jacket and black tight-fitting jeans. He was carrying a large black backpack.
The suspect fled the mall through a side exit on a motorcycle, heading towards the Mae Sot-Tak road.
Mae Sot police have launched a manhunt and set up checkpoints along the border with Myanmar to prevent the suspect from escaping across the border. – 819 (TNA)
