BEIJING, Feb 6 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived in Beijing on February 5 for a four-day official visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing transnational crime.
The PM is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior officials.
During her visit, the Prime Minister will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in several key areas. A major priority is combating transnational crime, particularly call center scams, through enhanced technology sharing between Thailand and China.
The leaders will also discuss measures to ensure Thailand remains a safe destination for Chinese tourists, addressing concerns about security and working to remove misleading information on social media platforms.
The discussions will explore opportunities to advance economic ties through trade partnerships and investment in future industries.
This includes collaboration on green energy initiatives, digital transformation projects, and the establishment of data centers. Additionally, both nations will continue their work on major infrastructure developments, specifically the high-speed rail connection and land bridge projects that aim to enhance regional connectivity.
The visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.
During her stay, the Thai prime minister will also visit Harbin to support Thai athletes at the Asian Winter Games. Additionally, discussions will include arrangements for Thailand to receive a new pair of giant pandas from China. – 819 (TNA)
