TAK, Jan 30 (TNA) – Liu Zhongyi, Chinese assistant minister of public security and his delegation on Wednesday visited Mae Sot, Tak Province, to discuss cooperation with Thai police in addressing call center issues and assisting Chinese victims.
They were received by Pol. Maj. Gen. Samrit Aimkamol, Commander of Tak Provincial Police, and Mr. Sawanit Suriyakul, Deputy Governor of Tak Province.
The delegation visited the tourist service center at the airport to observe the screening process and public awareness campaigns aimed at preventing human trafficking and deception of individuals who may be lured into becoming scammers in Myawaddy, Myanmar.
They also discussed the establishment of a joint Thai-Chinese coordination and operation center to combat human trafficking in Thailand.
Later, the delegation surveyed the border areas overlooking Shwe Kokko across from Mae Ramat District, and KK Park across from Mae Sot District, from the Thai side. They then held a meeting with police and relevant agencies at the Tak Immigration Office. – 819 (TNA)
