BANGKOK, Jan 15 (TNA) — Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is scheduled to pay a one-day visit to 3 Southern border provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani on Thursday, according to the government spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub.
Ms Paetongtarn will travel to Narathiwat to meet local students and parents who will be attending the “Debt Resolution Fair: A Path to Justice” at Pikul Square, Narathiwat Rajanagarindra University in Narathiwat’s provincial seat.
Later at the University meeting room, she will chair a meeting to follow up on the construction progress of a parallel bridge across Kolok River in Su-ngai Kolok district, and the Hat Yai – Su-ngai Kolok double-track railway project, which are parts of the development projects of the Southern border provinces.
She, then, will proceed to Thammawitthaya Foundation School, Yala’s provincial seat to meet with religious leaders and students, before traveling to Marine Police Pier, Rusamilae sub-district, Pattani’s provincial seat to meet with the province’s fishing industry operators.
At the Pattani Provincial Hall’s meeting room, Ms Paetongtarn will follow up on the progress of dredging and maintenance project for Pattani coastal waterways and sand bypasses, pier maintenance, and a financial assistance scheme (soft loans) for business operators in the three Southern border provinces, before returning to Bangkok.
According to the government spokesperson, the Prime Minister’s trip will mainly focus on the development of the three Southern border provinces, both in terms of transport and people’s quality of life, in a bid to enhance security and mobilize local economy. (TNA).-813
