BANGKOK, Aug 21 (TNA) – The Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) has nominated four former ministers from the Srettha Thavisin administration for positions in the new government led by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, according to a party statement released on Wednesday.
The nominations are currently under review by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat as part of the standard vetting process.
While the PPRP emphasized its ongoing cooperation with the Pheu Thai Party and reiterated the unity of its 40 MPs in supporting Prime Minister Paetongtarn, internal tensions have surfaced as the party navigates the formation of the new cabinet.
Sources report that a rift has emerged between factions led by the party’s leader Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon and its secretary –general and caretaker agriculture minister Capt. Thamanat Prompow.
Thamanat hinted on Tuesday that clarity on the allocation of ministerial quotas within the party would be revealed today. He was seen meeting with Pheu Thai key figures at a coffee shop this morning to discuss the ministerial nominations from his faction.
Reports indicate that one of Capt. Thammanat’s nominees, Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, is also a nominee from Gen.Prawit’s faction, highlighting the ongoing discord within the party.
Additionally, three key figures from Thamanat’s faction have been put forward: Capt. Thamanat himself, or his brother Akkara Prompow, who is an MP from Phayao province, Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, and Santi Promphat, or an MP from Santi’s group.
The ongoing tensions within the PPRP could complicate the finalization of the cabinet as the Pheu Thai Party weighs its options for ministerial appointments. – 819 (TNA)
