RAYONG, May 9 (TNA) – Fire broke out at a chemical storage tank farm in Map Ta Phut, injuring four people on Thursday.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office of Rayong Province, along with Pollution Control Department officials and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), are investigating the fire at a pyrolysis gasoline tank at Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co., Ltd.
Twenty fire engines, both water and foam, are battling the blaze, which is still raging. Black smoke billows into the sky.
The company has issued a statement saying that it immediately mobilized a team to control the situation in accordance with its emergency response plan. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Four people have been injured and are being treated at a hospital.
The company apologizes for the incident and says it will do everything it can to control the situation, with the safety of the community and the environment being its top priority.
The IEAT has ordered the company to temporarily suspend some of its operations. The authority is also investigating the cause of the fire, assessing the damage, and providing full assistance. –
